Anonymous said: A lot of pro-choicers say " Birth control isn't my bosses business." yet expect them to pay for it- even when its against their beliefs. So if its none of their business why do they have to pay for it. Doesn't Planned Parent hood provide the cheap or free birth control so you dont need your boss to go against their beliefs, or even get them involved, or is PP not as "charitable" as you make them sound. "Birth Control isnt my bosses business- but they have to pay for it" Explain this logic.

proudly-pro-choice:

Health care through your employer isn’t a gift. Money comes out of your paycheck for it. So they’re actually controlling what the employee spends their money on in terms of health care. It’s not your bosses business, and limiting health care because they don’t believe on it is wrong, and can be dangerous.

Yes, Planned Parenthood does provide free or cheap birth control, but I am fairly certain you have to meet certain criteria when it comes to how much you make. Not everyone can meet this, but still cannot afford their birth control.

Nicholas Lord, a Navy sailor since 2008 currently on active duty, is under investigation after threatening to rape a young woman who is a Navy recruit.
The young woman posted a photo of herself on Facebook, captioning it to say she’s proud of how she’s working hard to get in shape for the Navy, and she’s excited to be leaving soon. The photo was shared on the page for her Delayed Entry Program for her fellow Navy recruits.
Nicholas Lord, who is not a current recruit and who has been serving in the Navy since 2008, then commented:
You’ll end up pregnant real soon you fucking wh***. If I could and I knew you, I’d hold you down and rape you.
The next day, Lord gloated about his threat on his Facebook page, updating his status to say he’d been “trolling feminist pages.” In case it needs to be said, the Facebook page for a Navy program is not a “feminist page.” It’s a Navy recruiting page. (x) (x)
I don’t know what the Navy’s punishment system is like, but I hope he gets the worst possible. I hope they investigate his past history in the military, too. If he’s bold enough to outright threaten female recruits, under his own name, on public, Navy-run social media, I seriously doubt he hasn’t harassed and threatened female sailors. He may even have raped them.
Especially given the military’s problem with letting men get away with harassment and rape, they need to severely punish him.

Send it viral, and he will see ramifications.

If you only reblog one thing today I hope it’s this.

this is fucking awful.

when the boys pull your hair and push you to the ground
during recess
I promise not to tell you that it’s because they like you.
when the teachers call home to tell me that
you pushed them to the ground after you
I’ll take you out of school early and buy
you your favorite ice cream.
when you get older and the boys
try to touch you when you don’t want to be touched
I’ll look at you like the sun when you come home
with anger in your fists.
they all tell you not to fight fire with fire
but that is only because they are afraid of your flames.
when the boys yell after you like hyenas
you yell back, baby.
I will not teach you to be afraid of your anger
so that you look for it in others.
I will not make you be the better person
because you already are.
you wanna fight ‘em? fight ‘em.
don’t you dare apologize for the fierce love
you have for yourself
and the lengths you go to preserve it.
when the boys try to tell you to soften up
I hope you make them bleed with your edges.
I hope you remember that you are not theirs
that their disappointment in you is not yours.
when the boys come to your door with pretty words and
angry eyes
I hope you show them the anger in yours.
I hope you show them just how strong your mommy
thinks you are.
I hope you show them the animal they can’t always
see in their own reflection.
when the boys come with the intention of hurting you
my advice will always stay the same, my darling:
give ‘em hell.

Anonymous said: Towards the whole "pronouns hurt people's feelings" topic. Am I REALLY the only person on the planet that thinks people are becoming far to sensative? Nearly to the point that they shouldn't leave their little home bubbles in the case that a bird chirps next to them in a way that sounds like a mean word. Maybe, JUST MAYBE, we're becoming a little TOO coddling and people need to learn to deal with simplistic shit like words. And yes, I've been insulted and made fun of. I got over it. So can you.

thefrogman:

Supposedly invented by the Chinese, there is an ancient form of torture that is nothing more than cold, tiny drops falling upon a person’s forehead.

On its own, a single drop is nothing. It falls upon the brow making a tiny splash. It doesn’t hurt. No real harm comes from it.

In multitudes, the drops are still fairly harmless. Other than a damp forehead, there really is no cause for concern.

The key to the torture is being restrained. You cannot move. You must feel each drop. You have lost all control over stopping these drops of water from splashing on your forehead.

It still doesn’t seem like that big of a deal. But person after person, time and time again—would completely unravel psychologically. They all had a breaking point where each drop turned into a horror. Building and building until all sense of sanity was completely lost.

"It was just a joke, quite being so sensitive."

"They used the wrong pronoun, big deal."

"So your parents don’t understand, it could be worse."

Day after day. Drop after drop. It builds up. A single instance on its own is no big deal. A few drops, not a problem. But when you are restrained, when you cannot escape the drops, when it is unending—these drops can be agony.

People aren’t sensitive because they can’t take a joke. Because they can’t take being misgendered one time. Because they lack a thick skin.

People are sensitive because the drops are unending and they have no escape from them.

You are only seeing the tiny, harmless, single drop hitting these so-called “sensitive” people. You are failing to see the thousands of drops endured before that. You are failing to see the restraints that make them inescapable.

Reclaiming Fitspo: Mariam Usman

Usman is a 23 year old Nigerian weight lifter. She competes in the +75 kg category.

Usman debuted in the professional circuit in 2007, when she won overall silver at the All-Africa Games with a total of 248 kg. Later that year, in the World Weightlifting Championships she ranked 9th with a total of 257 kg. Usman went on to win overall gold at the 2008 African Championships, with 265 kg.

In the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, she competed in the +75 kg category. Usman managed to win fifth with 265 kg, narrowly missing a medal. More recently, she won overall gold in the +75 kg at the 2012 African weightlifting championships in Kenya. At the same tournament, she emerged second-best female lifter, beaten only by fellow Nigerian Chinenye Fidelis.

In 2012, Usman was given the honor of acting as flag-bearer for Niegeria in the London Olympics. Unfortunately, she was injured before being able to compete the Games. It seems likely that she’ll be representing Nigeria once again in the 2016 competition.

Marvel Comics is making Thor a woman.  From Time Magazine:

TIME: How do you think this will impact fans who have been with the male version of Thor for such a long time?

Jason Aaron, writer of the Thor series: If you’re a long-time Thor fan you know there’s kind of a tradition from time to time of somebody else picking up that hammer. Beta Ray Bill was a horse-faced alien guy who picked up the hammer. At one point Thor was a frog. So I think if we can accept Thor as a frog and a horse-faced alien, we should be able to accept a woman being able to pick up that hammer and wield it for a while, which surprisingly we’ve never really seen before.
